I closed this book soon after I opened it, the dialogue is very stale, a lot of time is spent restating the obvious. I don't think I will ever understand why bad writing is considered okay and even "exemplary" to put into children's books. Just because someone is eight years old doesn't mean reading something that sounds like a five to seven year old is okay. Children deserve better. They deserve to have their brains developed, not served mediocrity repeatedly in order to turn their brains into mush.

My son asked me to read this book and it was okay. I could tell right away where it was going, but it was still a good story.
