If you like a good court room drama, you will like this movie. I did enjoy the good acting and strong script. It is not too violent. It could be too sexual for children.

By far one of the best movies ever made the more you watch it the more you get

I remember asking myself how did Paul Newman not win a Best Actor award for this movie. (turns out that Ben Kingsley won it for his role in "Gandhi) Superlative acting from so many people. Too many "best scenes" to choose from. A great film; one of my favorites.

A wonderful Sydney Lumet film starring Paul Newman and Charlotte Rampling. The caliber of the actors alone is worth the watch. An interesting courtroom drama about a lawyer who falls on hard times and takes on case to redeem his past.

Would be outstanding if not for the female lead who is wooden and uninteresting.

Fierce drama that pits Paul Newman in one of his best film parts as attorney Frank Galvin. You won't want to miss a minute of the picture. It is a nail bitter throughout! Director Sidney Lumet is interviewed with Paul Newman in a bonus disc. Truly a must see dvd set!

Although I prefer Golden Age Hollywood movies (40s and 50s), this is one of my favorite ever contemporary films! Can watch multiple times back-to-back in one sitting (which I have done), and never tire of it. Excellent drama on the law profession and medical malpractice. A modern classic must-see!

Director Sidney Lumet directs a masterpiece with the film "The Verdict". Paul Newman gives a great performance as Frank Galvin, the alcoholic and thus failed attorney. His partner played by Jack Warden gives him a malpractice case that he at first feels he will just settle. Then he rethinks the situation and becomes determined to punish the guilty and get a fair settlement for his injured party. The screenplay by David Mamet is fascinating and you can expect a great summation speech by Paul Newman. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the great performance by James Mason. He plays the attorney for the insurance company fighting the case. It is a performance that I am sure he was proud to perform. Missing "The Verdict" would be unthinkable. It is to important a movie to miss!

Hard to pick Paul Newman's best movie--this is probably it. It is definitely the best "comeback" movie ever made. I never get tired of seeing it.
