After nearly a decade as a sous chef in a trendy eatery, Jenna is desperate for a change. She sees a 'for lease' sign near her parents' home and envisions her very own cooking store. But just as she's gaining a foothold in her new life, in walk her birth parents, aging hippies on a quest to reconnect with their firstborn. Now Jenna must figure out how to reconcile the free-spirited Serenity and Tom with her traditional parents, and deal with her feelings for a new love interest.
Okay, this is a solid story; solid Susan Mallery. It runs through relationships, mostly with family and a little between couples. I enjoyed most of it and the reading was well-done.
(Slight spoiler alert***)
My biggest problem is that nobody called Serenity on her "know-it-all" attitude before she died. She died, it was sad. But she was wrong in some of her views - like that Jenna would have had a happier life not being adopted by the Marshalls. And that drove me crazy. Just because she was a spacey hippy, doesn't mean she's right about EVERY thing.
And while real-life doesn't always have all the themes concluded cleanly in the end, with everyone agreeing they all needed to give a little in their point of views, this is not a "real-life" book.

Add a CommentA nice book though extremely predictable.
