Sadly, Matilda II at the Algonquin Hotel passed away this week. Hamlet remains, though.

This is a must-see for Cat-Lovers, or just regular people too, (those who want to learn about Cats). There are fact and data sections followed by neat stories of specific Cats and what happened to the little furballs...or big furballs, as you'll see. You won't be disappointed, the quality is good! I am heavily in favor of adoption, but purebreds aren't bad, they're innocent animals who need homes and families also. There is no need to insult purebreds.

At the beginning this well-produced DVD encourages adopting homeless pets and throughout the episodes, informs us of not only desirable characteristics but behaviours, maintenance and medical conditions certain breeds are prone to which may make you think twice about whether or not that kitty will make a good family member to your particular household. This information can only be an asset to making a decision on whether you and/or your family are ready or capable of being a responsible pet owner. Featuring commentaries by vets, behaviourists, book authors and cat fanciers; Cats 101 is very informative and highly entertaining for ALL ages.

I agree that it is better to adopt cats from a shelter but that does not mean that learning about different cat breeds and origins is not an educational experience for cat lovers.

I'd rather learn about shelter cats, rescue cats and fostering. In this day and age, why would anyone buy an inbred cat (aka purebred), when millions of lovely cats at 'shelters' are killed each year. Thirty a week in my city, I figure. It is sad to see a dvd glorifying breed racism.
