And finally we get answers! Most of this volume is a history lesson of how the keys came to be and how Dodge came to be what he is. You're left a horrifying understanding of exactly what has transpired for things to get to this point and what exactly is at stake here. Dodge remains in possession of Bode's body, and no one is the wiser at this point, and seems perfectly poised to being his plans to fruition. Now armed as well as Kinsey and Tyler are, the reader can't help but bite the nails in anticipation of the conclusion.

Unlock the past with the latest key! Things have gone downhill for the Locke family, despite the peace they have been tricked into feeling. With Bode's body possessed, Dodge's goals easily come to fruition, and he now only bides his time. But a new key has appeared, one which, while it may not solve the problem, will certainly lead to the solution.

Tyler and Kinsey revisit history, from the very beginning of the keyhouse and the forging of its keys, to the time when Rendell and his friends opened the Black Door. While they manage to subdue the emergent demon, they do so not knowing it will come back to haunt them. The gravity of the danger that everyone faces is finally revealed.

With many of its mysteries answered, and loose ends tied up, the stage is set for the final battle. Few questions remain, and the children are finally ready to take on their demons, both internal and external.

Possibly the best book in the series. Just plain great storyline, dialogue, action and artwork. Superior to anything I am reading, comic-wise. A very inspired set of graphic novels that would appeal to a wide audience. Great mix of blood and guts with actual character development and smart writing. A must read series for anyone into comics.
