In this masterful account set in Norway during World War II, Steinbeck explores the effects of invasion on both the conquered and the conquerors. After the 2nd disc I gave up. JS may be a brilliant star, but I found it so dated in language I lost any interest. So authors stand the test of 'language' time, others do not. IMO.
