This one was a bit of a surprise for me. In the beginning, when Sophia would just go on and on about her clothes etc. I was like, "I can't believe I'm listening to this," and to be honest not much happens for most of the book but that's the beauty of it. You don't need out-of-this-world, crazy things happening all the time. What this book does very nicely is that it sets a slow place, explains everything in detail, so that you know the position in which each and every person within and outside the mansion is, and the BAM! right at the end all the action happens. Now, the action itself isn't too complicated or messy but that's fine. You expect that because it is a retelling of the Bluebeard tale, but let me tell you, you are so lost in the world of Sophia and her imprisonment in that mansion that you don't think of tale until it is staring at you in the face. I mean, at least that's what happened to me lol.
