This movie relied on stereotypes, overused clichés and a very familiar story line. A great talent like Barbra Streisand deserves better than this.

Talented actors could not save this film.

The movie is slow and pointless. There are a few funny parts, so that is why I gave it one star.

A polite light comedy. Entertaining enough but nothing special.

Barbra Streisand (the girl next door who made good) is the yang to Woody Allen's ying. She should be his mother.
Movie starts slow. The acting is totally credible, as is the plot. We get to know the characters slowly. They have got some good points and some not so good. The turning point comes very naturally. After that the viewing pleasure meter starts rising. The theme is that we are all incomplete and need one another, whether we know it or not. And sometimes we get stuck in the past. You finish the film, feeling that you spent some time with a real family. They are nice folks. Meh!

I've read a lot of hateful comments towards this movie, but I personally thought it was very cute and heartwarming. ^_^ It's a good family flick (er, the kind of family members you wouldn't mind watching movies with some bad language). It IS a comedy, but if you're looking for hardcore Seth Rogen comedy, you'll be very disappointed. This one is more of the relationship between a man and his mom, and not too many inappropriate things happen, so it's geared towards older family. It's mainly rated R for some of the language used sometimes. Overall, I loved this movie because it was very sweet, like a good film for the holidays. I watched it with my mom, and she loved it. =)

Seth Rogen's dullest and most unfunny movie. Seth plays a more serious role in this one, which leaves the comedic parts to Barbara Streisand. Unfortunately, they're both saddled with a script that's devoid of anything humorous or interesting. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.
