Discovering the murdered body of a young woman in Ramble urban park, New York Assistant DA Alex Cooper and Detective Mike Chapman uncover disturbing links between the savage crime and a string of cold-case disappearances. In this novel the author, a former prosecutor for the City of New York, explores the rich, and little-known, history of New York City's Central Park. Here she takes readers into the storied history of Central Park as Assistant DA Alex Cooper and Detective Mike Chapman race to track down a serial killer before yet another young woman is found dead. Is the body found in the Ramble the first victim of a deranged psychopath, or are other missing women in years past whose remains have never been found connected to this savage attack? Is this enormous urban park a sanctuary in the middle of the city, as it seems to the thousands of New Yorkers and tourists who fill it every day, or is it a hunting ground for a killer with a twisted mind?

My first time reading this author. Found it good but a bit, only a bit, choppy, Still a good read though.

Not Fairstein's best. The case was decent, but the two threads seemed like they were straining to link them. Liked the history portion; good to have that back. But they missed several key plot elements (first time I've been telling Fairstein characters to pay attention to the clues!) that they normally would never have. And Alex was distracted and a bit whiny, not like the leader, powerhouse she normally is. And when she told off her boss-- totally out of character, and a fireable offense. With this and the next book, I'm not liking this development of Alex-and-Mike. Totally illogical given previous books and getting very annoying.

First time reading this author and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Historical information about Central Park was quite interesting. It was an easy read. Will pick up more books written by her.

New author for me. Good read, History and descriptions of Central Park, NY was as entertaining as the mystery plot. Returned it today and picked up another of hers.

Once again, a nugget of Manhattan history woven into her story --- Central Park this time. Easy read. Truly enjoy the series.

Finally Alex and Mike acknowledge feelings for each other(yeah) about time. Fairsteins' book was very readable and has usual filled with interesting tidbits about New York. I just hope she does not plan to play out Mikes and Alex growing and admitted attraction through out the next books in the series at best by the next book they should come out to the other characters.
