I surrendered to the madness, and woke up in the recovery room a week later. (O.k., not really.) Hilariously terrible, so funny, i truly LOVE the "Hi Mark" and Flower Shop scenes. so worth it. so stupid, but worth a look.

If you can find the humor in a really bad movie and enjoy that experience (if you're a fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000, for example), then The Room is the perfect film for you. For the average viewer who doesn't enjoy terrible movies, I recommend watching 15 minutes of it (or whatever you can stand) only if you intend to see The Disaster Artist, which is about the making of The Room. I watched all of it, mainly because I was intrigued to see where it would go. The Room is rated R for sexuality, language and brief violence.

Just like what you've probably already read, this movie is... JUST. AWFUL. That it got released simply has to be someone's colossal joke against decent humanity. The movie fails - to an astounding degree - in all aspects: direction, acting, editing, sound, decision-making, etc. The horrible music played during the overly-long "love" scenes was terrible. (The Fast Forward button on my DVD player remote control may have been worn out by these scenes.) The director's use of "establishing shots" was entirely wrong, and this mistake was repeated numerous times - another use for the Fast Forward button. If we shrink down the love-making scenes and improperly used establishing shots by 80%, the movie length would be cut by about 20 minutes. There were a couple of points where I did laugh at the lines: our director-producer-writer-actor, Mr Wiseau, has a unique grasp of the English language, and his line delivery, wording, and accent were, at times, hilarious. I can't recommend this movie for anything other than simply experiencing the WORST MOVIE EVAR, which is the reason I watched it.

I was wholly unprepared for the level of terribleness in this movie. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time and it is NOT a comedy. It starts of like a soft-core porn movie with worse dialogue and goes downhill from there. It is utterly unbelievable and I can't wait to watch The Disaster Artist right after. Each scene is just as bad and inconceivable as the last. I do also have to point out that the movie is horribly misogynistic as the lead female role is only manipulative and self-serving. I can't give this movie a higher rating on principle but damn is it entertaining. C'mon, let's throw the ball around! Don't worry about it!

Enjoy! Wish I had seen this at a theater to enjoy the crowd reaction. This film reminds me of a drunk person trying to tell a story. The best part is the Q&A in special features in which Tim Wiseau talks about his vision and how the film is based on his personal experience. Also intended as homage to Tennessee Williams. It's his sincerity that makes it all so interesting. Just read the description on the DVD case before watching the film then read other reviews, so it's not spoiled for you. A wild ride.

This is not a movie you should watch without knowing some of its background. Whether you read about the making of the movie, or read the excellent book, "The Disaster Artist," written by the costar of "The Room" about the movie, it's best to know what you are about to see. Simply put, "The Room" is easily the worst movie I have ever watched. I could spend many words listing "The Room's" multitude of oddities. For the sake of space, I will try to keep things brief. The plot is full of holes, none of the characters make sense, and the script feels like something an elementary student wrote. Possibly worst of all is "The Room's" egregious depictions of women.

Watching "The Room" is like watching a train wreck over and over from different angles. It's terrible, and you know you should look away, but simply can't peal your eyes from the scene at hand. As a first rate, heart-wrenching drama, the film could not fail more fantastically. Instead, through the years it has become known as the best terrible movie ever, spawning both a book, and now a movie based on that book (The Disaster Artist). While watching "The Room," I think I paused from laughing only a few times. It is magnificent in its failure. Director and Star, Tommy Wiseau, may not have succeeded in creating a riveting drama, but, did succeed in creating one of the most memorable films of the last 25 years.

In a sense, to give this movie any internet stars is an insult to internet stars. But The Room, and its director/writer/producer/star Tommy Wiseau will live in your memory long after better movies have faded. What is the definition of an auteur? "A filmmaker whose individual style and complete control over all elements of production give a film its personal and unique stamp." Is Mr. Wiseau's film unique and personal, and its director, etc., etc. controlling? Hell yeah! A couple minutes of The Room, taken at random, are enough to identify it as a Tommy Wiseau production. Should you see it? Hell yeah! If it's not a movie for all time, it's a movie for our time.

Mad respect to the cataloger who added the 650 "Spoons -- drama" to the local record.

The best movie ever to exist. The director and the main actor, Tommy Wiseau, is a being beyond mortal. He has descended to a higher being, no movie can be so good without alien help. This movie will change your life. Rent this movie, if you don't believe me, than let the movie speak to you. I will give you a taste of the movie to you, here are a couple of lines from the movie.

[Open scene showing the rooftop of the apartment complex]
[We see Johnny (Tommy Wiseau) open the door to the roof]

Johnny : It's not true!
Johnny: It's bullshit!
Johnny: I did not hit her!
[Throws water bottle to the ground angrily]
Johnny: I did nawt
Johnny : oH hAi MaRk

So so so bad. So so so bad that it is funny. Watch it with a group of friends and some alcohol and the jokes will fly!
