SummaryAdd a Summary
Teresa and her daughter flee Naples Italy after their aristocratic employer attempts to cure Teresa of her mental illness. They arrive in Cleveland, Ohio where the daughter enrolls in high school, and is one of very few in her class to graduate and be accepted into college at Hiram. Teresa follows her singing passion into vaudeville, but her mental illness worsens, and the daughter must come home to take care of her. In the end, Teresa returns to Italy, but the daughter marries her first love, a Jewish boy names Henryk. Loved the details about immigrant life here in the early 1900's.
