Add a CommentAside from the fact that Carrie is one of my favorite books, the woman doing this recording has a great vocal range and manages to do distinct voices for different characters really well. Plus, the introduction is read by Stephen King himself.
First Stephan King audio book I have listened to so far. I completely fell in love with his style! This story had its twists and turns with many disturbing mind blowing disturbing parts, but it was full of great details. King did an amazing job writing this book from a females point of view. A classic book about being supernatural, in my opinion - much better than both movies made from the book.
I downloaded the audiobook, but it won't work unfortunately
I am not teasing anyone...
Who is teasing who??
If you dream about her coming to your house
What does that mean??
Curious minds want to know??
I've been listening in the car for a few days. This audio book is making me feel uncomfortable 100% of the time, whether it is the freaky mother or the nasty classmates doing things. I guess Stephen King is that master at that. The only good part so far is that Carrie is learning to levitate things. I want her to give the evildoers their comeuppance!
Carrie is a cult classic novel from the great author Stephen King. The novel is focused on 16 year old Carrie, a misfit at school and home. With a religious fanatic of a mother and no father around, fun and friends were not for Carrie. Other than that, Carrie’s your average American teenager. Except she’s telekinetic. So, being asked to prom by a popular boy is the last thing she expects to happen. Will it be as thrilling as she’s always dreamed, or will prom and telekinesis not mix? As always, Stephen King doesn’t disappoint! Personally, I think the book is always better than the movie. And Carrie falls into that category. Stephen King is a legend, and everything he writes is pure magic. He has his own unique style, and even though this is one of his earlier books, you can still see it. I don’t think I could ever read this book too many times. It’s absolutely fantastic, and I feel I can relate to Carrie being a bit of a misfit myself. (No super powers though!) The ending of the story is different from the movie, but the story ending is definitely preferred. I think the only thing I dislike about Stephen King books is how they start off slow. This one gave subtle hints at the beginning though, which I liked. You can never go wrong with a good Stephen King book. I really enjoyed the parts of the novel where you’re in Carrie’s head. I feel like that allows me to really get to know her and relate to her a lot more.
Book is way better than the movie! It is more interesting and dramatic. You really get more of a sense of all the characters.
Having seen the movie, one knows the story. The movie, in my opinion is better than the book, ends differently than the book. But this is still a Stephen King early classic, but he got better later in his career.
