Didn't think I would read another book about the Holocaust and World War II, but this one is quite different. It focuses on the musicians and their instruments, trying to tie the two together into their history.
The first chapter focuses on the creation of the Palestine Orchestra, now the Israeli Philharmonic and it is amazing. Each succeeding chapter focuses on an individual Jewish "musician" from various countries and how his musical expertise and instrument often saved him from certain death.
A relatively short book, but a wealth of information. Highly recommended.
