**************************** 100 STARRED Review ********************** _____________________________________________________________________________________ To refer to this achievement by scholar Jung Chang as incredible simply does not do it justice! I particularly like her method of presenting a string of facts, then rendering an opinion - - so unlike too many pseudo-non-fiction authors who pose their nonsensical opinions as factual, without any supporting facts! I learned much from this book; and it was verifiable, so I staunchly support this scholar's outstanding work. I was seriously taken aback by the section on Nixon, Kissinger and Mao - - I had completely missed the 2002 released meetings record between them and had no idea of the outrageous lies and distortions Kissinger had told about those meetings! Although I admit to despising Kissinger and Nixon, I had no idea how completely they gave up everything to Mao and the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] - - what a couple of sublime, anti-democracy devils! Kissinger has publicly criticized former president, Jimmy Carter, for giving away so much to the CCP [and on this he was accurate], yet it was Kissinger and Nixon who began it all. I hereby award Nixon and Kissinger with the Julius and Ethel Rosenberg Prize for Treason! They're giving up Taiwan, South Korea and, of course, South Vietnam was incredible -- and it was the financial elites backing Kissinger who originally promoted the troop buildup and war during the LBJ Administration - - those masters of betrayal! Thank goodness Nixon was forced out of the White House during his second term when he promised all the aforementioned, otherwise history might have been radically different! Beginning early on -- and throughout this book -- scholar Chang presents a number of profoundly insightful points and I was most struck by two of them: Mao enjoyed those freedoms his entire life which he stole from everyone else, and his constant and consistent destruction of Chinese culture. [And probably was the greatest mass murderer in history.] Scholar Jung Chang's book, Mao, the Untold Story, is a masterful work by a master scholar! http://chinaplus.cri.cn/news/china/9/20170321/1789.html https://www.jpmorganchina.com.cn/country/CN/EN/company-history __________________________________________________________________________________ God Bless the Noble Memory of Wang Zi-zheng, forever shall he reside in the Hall of Heroes
