I found myself thoroughly sucked in by this book, but I still can't figure out who dunnit or what the real conspiracy is. As the blurbs say, the writing is smart and engaging, but also at times a little flip. I still recommend it because it is funny, challenging and set in San Francisco. And really what's not to like about a book populated by angry, under-employed MFAs, surfer cops, drug-induced catfish hallucinations, and multi-ethnic detectives.
