It's okay I guess. It's not bad. Just sort of odd. But is always good to see Bill NIghy in most anything. Well, maybe not Limehouse Golem. That was just too strange.

Really liked this one. It was bleak, dark, dreary, and depressing for sure. Does that make it "noir"? I think it does. I enjoyed have the Welsh language inserted personally. Also enjoyed seeing a lot of faces I have never seen and thought they did a very good job. I liked that it was 1 long story like Broadchurch, The Tunnel, etc rather than TV movie length. I look forward to Series 2! Someone below mentioned Hinterland I think. I did like this one better because of the long story rather than the TV-movie-length episodes as I mentioned above. Highly recommend!

We really wanted to like this one and did actually make it through about 30 minutes before we had to quit. Movie-makers--please have your actors SAY SOMETHING!!!!!!! Why do you think we want to see someone stand there and stare out across the landscape and not say a word? Talk to the dog, talk to the sky, talk to the snow! Just say something to somebody or something for goodness sakes!!!!!

Good, if basic, book especially for an author's first novel. The main character was kind of wishy-washy at times, but she had been through a lot.

We usually enjoy the Pure Flix/David A.R. White movies but this one just did not click with us and stopped after about 10 minutes. Maybe he is trying to make a different type of faith-based movie. Even though we did not finish it, I am sure many will enjoy it. Nice to see Burt Young for a few minutes. He was in at least 1 of the Rocky movies in case you are trying to place the name.

Found this in the movie section but it is actually a 3-episode series. Not really deep but is interesting and after doing some reading about it later, it seemed to follow the real-life events. Matthew Macfadyen and Mark Bonnar are good in most everything the do also and this holds true here.

This is one, while a basic rom-com, has some really funny parts. As someone below said, the satire of Wham! and Christina Aguilera are really funny although I think a better comparison would be Taylor Swift as she is today. Those parts steal the show in my opinion. Don't think I remember any profanity at all so that was nice for a change.

This one is okay I suppose. Even with the unclear ending, I liked the story. I do get tired of the Derwent character. I know this is fiction but as written, he just seems to be a nosy jerk. In the real world, he probably would have been fired for harassment or insubordination. It does not speak well for Kerrigan and the female boss that they let him get away with so much stuff.

Good family film that should not offend anyone. Certainly not very deep but nothing wrong with that. Advertised as "faith and family" but I think that rather than faith-based like say a Sherwood film or David A.R. White, it is more just a positive movie. Interesting to see "real" Hollywood people in a movie like this.

It is always good to just happen upon a movie like this that is really good but that you have never heard of. It is funny, quirky, positive, happy, and silly at times. Think Napoleon Dynamite. If you enjoyed that one, you will like this one. They are very similar. I am sure this is a low-budget, independent, film-festival movie. Sometimes they end up being just odd when they are trying to be quirky. This one hits the mark though. I highly recommend it.

It's the original Walton's movie so nothing else needs to be said. From 1971 I think so the the acting is a bit dramatic by today's standards, especially Patricia Neal.

A Time for Mercy, Book

One of the best of his last few books I think. At times, it seems he writes something over a couple of weeks to fulfill an obligation to his publisher and his contract but to me, it felt like he actually spent some time on this one. Thought the courtroom scenes, when they finally got there, were really good. But, you know, in the end, lots of things were not really ended, so yes, maybe he is preparing for a 4th in the Jake Brigance series. However, I thought the same thing about Gray Mountain a few years ago, and thus far, nothing.

This World Won't Break, DVD

Although sad at times yet with a lot of positive feel-good moments, this is a very good indy/film festival type movie set and apparently filmed a good bit in the Deep Ellum section of Dallas. A lot of it was filmed in an establishment called the Sons of Hermann Hall which is a real thing it seems since I was able to look it up on Google and see basically the rooms the movie was filmed in. It does not have many characters so they are easy to keep straight and they all do a really good job. I have never seen any of the actors anywhere previously. For some reason, I think they might be either local Dallas actors or maybe from other parts of Texas. It is good. I suggest you watch it.

Another in the many movies currently out there about the various resistance groups in WW II. Unfortunately, this one just was not very good although it for sure had possibilities. It was very hard to follow for one thing, and seemed to have so many characters. Also, I would much rather hear the actors native language and read subtitles like we did in the series "The French Village" than have English dubbed in so that the sound does not match the mouth movement. That was very distracting. Reminded me off old Japanese monster movies where that happened.

Very interesting especially for anyone with any interest in the Vietnam War. I just picked this up without reading about beforehand and did not actually know it was fiction until I read the earlier reviews. I was having a hard time deciding if it was supposed to be fiction, a memoir, or just some short stories based on some true events or else based on some made-up events. Still, I enjoyed reading it.

Very stressful and intense. As one reviewer said, it definitely does not have as much of the humor as some of the others have had. This one finally explains what's up with Assad much as the previous book, #7 in the series, explained Rose. I go back and forth on whether or not things were left so there will be a 9th book in the series. For the final big scene in Berlin, go to Google maps and the satellite and you can almost follow the action step by step! If you have not read the series in order, it will be extremely difficult for you to understand who is who and why they are the way they are. Just bite the bullet and go back to #1 of the series and start there.

Only made it through about 10 minutes. It just did not do it for us at all. Actually, Dianne Kruger played Sonya in the American version of The Bridge set in El Paso and Juarez. Clemence Poesy was the French actress in the British/French version of The Bridge which was called The Tunnel rather than The Bridge.

I like the way this guy writes. My only issue is that, like in "The Whisper Man', he gets close to some supernatural stuff which I don't really care for. Let's just solve the mystery. The story got a bit confusing at times because of this but all in all, it was a good book. I would definitely read the next one by this author.

Another good movie about the bad things Nazi's did during WW II. My only problem is that there was that at times the characters paused and gazed at each other way to long. Could have been 10 minutes shorter without all of that. Come on. It is a story about a crime, not a Hallmark movie.

Truthfully, we probably did not watch enough of this to even rate it but I did anyway. We watched at least 5 minutes of opening credits that seemed to last 30 minutes followed by a man laying back watching another guy sing a play a banjo-type instrument for another 5 minutes or so before a single word was spoken. We have absolutely no idea what this was supposed to be about.

Interesting take on Hell. Personally, I am not sure I agree with his conclusions and actually not really sure it should be called "faith-based" because he really does take an unusual position on the subject. It was probably the best of this type we have seen not made by the David A.R. White/Pure Flix people or the Sherwood people (Courageous, Face the Giants, War Room, etc).

I agree with both of the previous reviewers. It just does not work very well with the fake accents especially when there are probably lots of capable actors available that speak the language needed for the story. That being said, it was another good story about a part of the resistance against the Germans in WW II. This time it was the Jews of Warsaw. Mostly it was very sad and was quite often very intense. Our other issue, other than the accents, is that it was just to dark so much of the time. By that, I mean that we could not see what was going on. Lots of scenes were in basements or tunnels and we just could not tell what was going on. Still, if you have an interest in this topic, it is probably worth watching. Oh, it is very long also, almost 3 hours so be prepared for that.

Fairly typical BBC/PBS movie. Good acting, interesting story which is apparently mostly true. No subtitles but we did get the closed captioning to work on the TV settings so that helped. A couple of the actors I have seen in recent years on various BBC/Acorn/PBS shows.
